Mike Lardy
"The thing that sets Mike apart from all the rest
is his ability to get inside the dogs' heads and
know what makes them eager to perform... his
system works. It shows you how to be
successful step by step."
-Tim West, Arcadia Retrievers, Arcadia, OK.
Tim trains his personal dogs for AKC field
trials and UKC hunt tests
"The thing that impresses us the most is the
standards that are set for training that are both
fair and effective. Whether it is how to bring
the dog from our truck to line and back, or
how to give fair but useful corrections, or how
to teach a dog to fight the factors to run
straight lines, Mike's program has made us
successful while having our dogs maintain
great attitudes."
-Ken and Lori Dollevoet, Lorken Game Farm, Freemont, WI.
Ken and Lori run hunt tests, sanctioned field trials,
and licensed field trials
"Mike Lardy's training methods and theories
have changed my entire training program."
-Renee Ivy, Gun River Kennels
Renee trains retrievers for family/companion gun dog
and hunt tests, including putting hunt test
titles on adult conformation dogs
"I have been very pleased in both sets of Mike's
tapes because I not only know what to do
today but what I will be doing next month."
-Ken Bora, professional chef & sugar maker, Burlington, VT.
Ken trains his Chesapeake Bay Retrievers for waterfowl
hunting and competes in AKC and NAHRA tests.
Dave Rorem
I have no doubt that the Rorem Handling Workshop made me a better handler and therefore intend to make my participation in the Workshop an annual event.
Oftentimes, the difference between a blue ribbon and a green at a field trial is razor thin. This is particularly true in the Open, where the best dogs and handlers compete. Because so many dogs are physically gifted and superbly trained, the difference between winning, placing, and finishing is the ability of a handler to extract the best performance possible out of his dog. If you are an Amateur like me, competing in the Open against men and women who earn their living training and handling dogs, you know how difficult the task of winning is and are constantly looking for opportunities to improve your skills as a handler. The Rorem Workshop provides just such an opportunity.
Many great competitors are not great teachers. Dave is both. One of the reasons that I found the Rorem Workshop so worthwhile is that Dave is able to put his years of competition experience to work by offering handlers succinct, understandable criticism, praise, and advice in real time. At the Rorem Workshop, you will have numerous opportunities to run both your dogs and Dave’s dogs in competition conditions under Dave’s watchful eye. Dave will offer his comments to you and the other handlers both as you are running and afterwards in the evening as part of group video review. That combination of repetition, instantaneous review, and then video review makes for a powerful learning experience.

"My name is Robert Tawton and I live in Canberra, Australia. ... Our 2006 competitive season has just come to an end and to say that I have has been successful would be an understatement. In many respects the successes have been largely due to the information, insight and demonstrations you so willingly shared with your audience.
King is my older dog ... the first dog in the history of our sport to have won every State Championship.
My second dog, Tank, ... AA 1st Place X 4, AA 2nd Place X 10 Championships 1st Place X 2 and Championships 3rd Place X 2 .... and was also awarded the “Retrieving Trial Dog of the Year” as the result of an Australia wide competition....
As I indicated earlier, there is no doubt in my mind that a significant portion of these successes has been as a direct of result of the [tutoring] provided via your videos, many thanks once again."
